Open application period for the 2017-2018 Energy Efficiency Financing Line

The aid plan provides 100 million euros for improvements in energy efficiency in businesses and industries, with a special mention for the hospitality sector.

The new credit line of ICO-IDAE (Instituto de Crédito Oficial and Instituto para la Diversificación y Ahorro de la Energía) aims to reduce energy consumption in industry and commerce. This is one of the main costs for entrepreneurs, only surpassed by personnel expenses, so it can represent an economic benefit for companies and a contribution to the environment.

The soft loan line has a total of 100 million euros, of which 70 will be allocated to industry and commerce, and 30 to hospitality. The aid can reach three million euros in the first group, and must be carried out within two years at most; and up to 1.5 million in the second, to be carried out in one year. In none of the cases will a minimum amount be considered to receive the aid.

In the first case, companies must have a specific, although quite broad, CNAE 2009: textile industry, paper, chemical, food, furniture, metallurgical, etc. As for commerce, it should be mentioned that the exchange of motor vehicles is excluded from the aid. In the case of the hospitality industry, it refers to both restaurants and bars as well as tourist apartments and hotels.

All companies that want to avail themselves of this aid must make the request directly at their bank. They may be able to dispose of the entirety of their investment, provided that the measures carried out appear in the Catalogue presented by the IDAE and have a date later than the request for aid. Previous works such as certificates and technical reports are an exception and can be recovered, even if they have an earlier date, as it is understood that they were carried out with the energy reform in mind.

Practically all the work carried out to reduce final energy consumption and daily carbon dioxide emissions, including the assembly of facilities and transportation costs, are considered accepted measures.
