The LIDL logistics platform in Alcalá de Henares obtains the final BREEAM Excellent certificate

The largest warehouse of the multinational in Europe has also managed to be the most sustainable thanks to the high score obtained from the sustainable BREEAM certificate, and also having the 4 Leaves VERDE seal.

Alcalá de Henares, Madrid: The project, carried out by Zero Consulting, has obtained certifications in the final phase or as a finished building in less than a year after its inauguration. Last September, the platform was inaugurated along with its flagship store in sustainability in Coslada, generating great anticipation.

In addition to the large dimensions of the building, there was an added complication due to the different uses it was going to have, as it also includes offices and a refrigerated area. It should also be mentioned, the large number of loading and unloading docks that were needed.

Among the measures implemented, the reuse of the heat released from the cold chain, the high production of photovoltaics and the careful collection of data to obtain the environmental impact of the building stand out.

As a result of great teamwork and the commitment of all parties involved since the start of the project, exemplary energy savings, water use reduction and carbon dioxide emission figures have been achieved both at company level and for the logistics sector as a whole.
