Changes in the LEED registration and project verification price

Cambios en las cuotas de registro y certificación LEED

Starting from May 1, the registration and verification by the GBCI of LEED projects will have new prices. This change will affect the different rating versions and will represent a 12% increase in the current price.

New rates for LEED projects

GBCI, the entity in charge of reviewing LEED projects, has recently announced a change in the current LEED registration and certification fees. According to the entity, with the price increase, services will be improved, in addition to providing the benefits of LEED certification and meeting the objectives of their project.

The change will be effective on all invoices generated from 1 May 2023 for both registration and LEED certification. The new fees can be consulted in detail on the LEED website. This is the first increase in LEED fees since 2016.

This price increase will represent on average a 12% increase compared to current prices in the following rating versions:

  • Building Design and Construction (BD+C)
  • Interior Design and Construction (ID+C)
  • Building Operations and Maintenance (O+M)
  • Neighbourhood Development (ND)
  • Cities and Communities

GBCI has also informed that it will also be possible to make a prepayment of fees until 30 April, thus being able to register and certify buildings while maintaining the current fees until then. This registration provides access to LEED Online, submission tools and resources, and allows GBCI to begin supporting the project's certification goals.

Projects registered under the new fees will include access to additional resources within the Arc platform, which features tools to measure and score the operational performance of any space or building.

LEED certification in Spain: leader at the European level

More and more buildings are being certified according to LEED criteria. This evaluation system determines the building sustainability in terms of reducing carbon emissions, conserving resources, and lowering operational costs.

Spain ranks first in Europe and fifth in the world in the list of countries and regions with LEED projects in 2021. From the first building certified in 2006 to the present day, more than 700 projects have been certified throughout the country.

Since 2015, Zero Consulting has been part of the certification of more than 75 projects throughout Spain, being the first consulting company to obtain the LEED Gold certification in the LEED v4 Warehouse and Distribution Centres Worldwide version with the Logistik Gavilanes project, a new construction logistic warehouse.
